This
relatively new architectural practice is the evaluation of building failures.
They are categorized as design, construction or material failures that lead
to a building or system that has not met its expected function.
When
necessary, based on our background in design as well as construction, we
develop repair/replacement solutions for the owner. This study has been
very beneficial in our designs and has taught us to recognize the pitfalls
before we become involved in failures ourselves.
There
are instances when we are called upon to perform extensive investigation
and reporting as an adjunct to litigation support. Our efforts were primary
in the recovery of $1.75 million to a school system with a roofing failure.
To date, we have successfully assisted in over 38 forensic architectural
cases.
